Rambling of a Photog-geek-rapher • By J.Guess Photography

Thursday, August 26th, 2010

It has been a very busy and wonderful few weeks. I just wanted to share some pictures of pictures and other things.

But first I have to share one of my biggest fears in the world. The EVIL escalator. Going up isn’t so bad…it is riding down! I just do not like it, who thought it was a good idea to design those things with little teeth like groves.

One of my pictures took 2nd place in the People Category.

Model: Oletha Dawn Roth          Hair: Catherine Jones
Location: REALLY OLD HOUSE (With permission)

Fun Fact: I still can’t decide how I want to crop this image…I have it in my final edit folder two different ways….I am a geek.

One of my other pictures recognized. (Top Center)

I was awarded :
1st in People/Portraits
Vincent Hensley Memorial Award- Black & White Photography
and
Best of Show

Model: Lindsey Cheatham     Hair /Makeup: Katie Armstrong & Brandy Doyle
Location: Use you imagination….

Fun Facts:
1.Lindsey has my wedding ring set on her hand.
2.I almost didn’t enter this picture at all. I didn’t think it would get a good reaction. Eric ( The Husband) asked, “Do you want people to stop and look or win a ribbon?”. I went with the stop and look image …and got a ribbon(s).
3. I have a thing. If I see the bottom of your feet, I would rather see toes and not an outline of shoes.

This year I have been pretty much living at the State Fair. It has been fun! I got to attempt to help train the ducks in the Discovery Barnyard…

Some were more reluctant then others to go down the slide.

This makes me want to go snow skiing!!!

With out the same results.

Over all fun has been had and will continue!

Bowling • A Creative Concept By Laura with Photography By J.Guess Photography

Monday, July 26th, 2010

I wish I could say that this was all my idea…it wasn’t Laura wanted to shoot at a Bowling alley in her Grandmom’s dresses. I loved it, we kinda did a retro/funky throwback. It was a blast! Brandy Doyle even went with us and touched everything up!

Ok. This may not be the most perfect shot ever….but I loved the bowling balls idea. It took a bit for us to get the balls to balance on the finger holes!

Before anyone ask….she was not on the lane, there was actually a walk way between the lanes, we used this to our benefit. Jessica was so wonderful to work with.

Yep I had to torture her a bit. She was up for being a pretzel!

Alice: Part One

Friday, May 28th, 2010

Finally after all these months we did the shoot! I had amazing help! I had Scooter Ray and Corey Elmore on makeup/hair. Scooter also helped with some of the photo setups and styling as well! I had my help from my good friends Samantha McNay and Chuck McNay, they helped with location and setup.  I also want to “THANK “Future Funds Inc.” for letting us use the actual shoot location.

First and foremost, this is what 5-ish am in the woods looks like. If you are like me, you will have never experienced it! I shall hopefully never see it again either!

My Hatter: Cody Stephenson

My Alice: Krystle Mullins

My March Hare: Corey Elmore

My “Cat”

(Which is just CAT, because every time I would say Cheshire, I would butcher it !):

Kristen Lynch

Scooter helped tremendously with this setup! He was so patient especially at 7 am, when we all were wondering why I started to early!! (We had started getting ready about 5:00.)

I consider this one of the TOP images from the shoot…

(The other one will be posted tomorrow-ish…)

For those who are curious as to what it looks like at my shoots….this is everyone hanging around waiting between setups.

For photogs, this is pretty much what it looked like as we shot.

I will have part two in a day or soooo, then I will be adding more to my facebook!
